Last ride of the year, and I was not alone

The weather turned rather pleasant, like the calm before the storm. Last weekend, travelers were stranded at airports and on the highway. In a few days, winter will return. Today, it’s a balmy 50 degrees, the sun is shining and most of the snow is gone here in the Cincinnati area. Time for one more ride in 2010.

My son, Stuart, and his girlfriend, Naomi, are visiting for the holidays. So, I asked, “Does anybody want to go for a ride?” Naomi said, “Sure.” After a discussion about proper gear, etc., we suited up and warmed up the bike, and set off for about 45 minutes riding the back roads along the Little Miami River and return.

Actually, with the winter gear on, we were both on the warm side, but it was a mighty fine ride on the last day of 2010. I wanted to do 15,000 miles this year on the motorcycle. I knew I was going to fall a little short when I backed off of one tour. So after today’s ride, I have managed 13,637 miles in 2010.

Will tomorrow be the first ride of 2011? Will I do 20,000 miles next year? Stay tuned.

  1. Happy New Year, Brent. That’s a fine way to end one year and a good way to start the next. I hope the weather there cooperates!

  2. Well, all the members of the household have survived New Year’s Eve, but as predicted the rain has come. Sitting here on the first morning of 2011, I am hopeful that the forecasters are correct that the rain will end and the sun will shine this afternoon. 🙂
