Lunken Airport

Cincinnati–The Ohio River has flooded numerous times, and all have been serious. But, the Great Flood of 1937 was so severe, it flooded Cincinnati’s Lunken Airport, causing great damage. Today, Lunken Airport serves the business community and general aviation, while frequent flyers fly from CVG—the newer Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport located across the Ohio River in Northern Kentucky.

Alms Park

CINCINNATI—Alms Park sits on a bluff overlooking the Ohio River and the Little Miami River watershed. It’s not the largest park in Cincinnati, but it is one with a wonderful view.

Cincinnati Observatory

The world is aware of the Cincinnati Observatory because its Astronomer, Dean Regas, is the co-host of Star Gazers, a weekly filler program on more than 100 PBS stations. But, it has much more history than that.

“The Cincinnati Observatory Center is known as ‘The Birthplace of American Astronomy.’  It houses one of the oldest working telescopes and was the first public observatory in the western hemisphere.”
